Hi, I’m Kristen, the blonde behind the camera. I grew up with a camera toting mom snapping pictures, following us where ever we went. We would roll our eyes and try to avoid it as any teen would; but those photos became memories I would have other wise forgotten.
As I matured I began to see things in a different light. I began staring out my car window at nature, analyzing trees, hills and fields to see their potential to make a photo beautiful.
I embarked on photography as a hobbyist after college. I began raising my family, (of three boys, and a husband) and taking pictures for friends and family as they asked. A few years ago I felt defeated, I felt like I couldn’t keep up with the talent I saw in the photography world, and the competitive natured person I am said it was all or nothing, so I chose nothing. I traded in my DSLR for a simplistic digital camera, I was done.
As I began taking pictures of my family I was saddened by what I saw. My fast moving children became blurry, my beautiful backdrops became colorless and boring. My artistic mind would not allow for the displeasure those pictures gave me. This lit a fire and I knew then that I needed to be something more. With the encouragement and support of of my mom’s group my schedule began to fill, quickly, my confidence was restored. I knew this is what I was meant to do. My all or nothing attitude was now ALL.
In 2014 I began Kristen Hafner Photography as a natural light, for the DFW surrounding areas, based out of Keller. I specialize in families, children, newborns, and couples. I have found myself naturally gravitating toward children. Maybe it’s my love of the challenge of syncing up the chase of the child and snap of my camera perfectly, or the love filled smile when a parent and child’s eyes meet. Really I think it is that in each child and family I see a bit of my own.
I am a self-taught, coffee loving, child whisperer, doing photography because I LOVE it, not because it’s a job; and I can’t wait to meet you.
